Charley and the Keys

So we survived hurricane charley. There was a lot of rain and wind but nothing too serious happened to us. Power flickered but thankfully it always came back on. Our poor oak tree actually remained up and only a few tree limbs fell down which was good considering how old and huge the tree is. While the tree did take out the rear windowshield of my mom's car it probably could've inflicted a lot more damage. Unfortunately, not everyone faired as well as us, even people in orlando had quite a bit of damage. Today I had to go to my barnes and nobles orientation, I will get to that a little later, but on the way there almost all the street lights were out except for 2. So that was interesting to say the least. Likewise power is out all over the place. Lots of trees down, for instance a tree fell right through the roof of this doctors office. I'm glad nothing bad happened to us.

So I had my orientation today and it went really well. I'm really excited and on monday I get to start setting up the store, unpacking supplies and shelving books.....wooohooo. I also found out that I get a 30% discount off books and they have a book loan program where I can check out any hardback book for 14 days free of charge. How awesome is that!

Lastly, I'm officially going on vacation from wednesday to saturday. I'm driving down to key west and plan on having lots of fun. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Countdown to school is at roughly a week...can you believe that?
